Haringey Man and Van Service Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of man and van, removal, transport, loading, unloading and related services provided by Haringey Man and Van. By making a booking or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before confirming a booking.

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions, the following definitions apply:

1.1 References to we, us, our or the company mean Haringey Man and Van as the provider of removal and man and van services.

1.2 Customer, you and your refer to the person, company or entity booking or receiving the services.

1.3 Services means any man and van, removal, delivery, collection, packing, loading, unloading, transport or related services we agree to provide.

1.4 Goods means the items and property that you ask us to move, transport or handle.

1.5 Contract means the agreement between you and us for the provision of the services, incorporating these Terms and Conditions and any written confirmation we provide.

2. Scope of Services

2.1 We provide man and van and removal services for residential and commercial customers, including local moves, regional collections and deliveries, and light transport within the UK.

2.2 Our services may include loading, unloading, basic furniture positioning, and transport of your goods from the collection address to the delivery address specified at the time of booking.

2.3 We do not provide specialist removal services such as pianos, safes, hazardous materials or high-value antiques unless expressly agreed in writing and subject to additional conditions and charges.

2.4 We reserve the right to refuse to move any item that we reasonably consider unsafe, illegal, excessively heavy, inadequately packed, or likely to cause damage to our vehicle, equipment, personnel or other goods.

3. Booking Process

3.1 Bookings can be made by you providing full and accurate information about the addresses, access conditions, parking arrangements, size and quantity of goods, and any special handling requirements.

3.2 When you request a quotation, we will base our price on the information you provide. Any changes to the services, including additional items, different addresses or waiting time, may result in a revised price.

3.3 A booking is only confirmed when we issue a confirmation, typically in writing, setting out the agreed date, time window, service description, estimated duration and price or pricing basis.

3.4 You are responsible for checking the details in the booking confirmation and notifying us promptly of any errors. If you do not inform us of any discrepancies before the move, we will assume the details are correct.

3.5 We may request a deposit or full prepayment to secure your booking. If payment is not made by the requested date, we may cancel or release the booking slot.

4. Pricing and Quotations

4.1 Prices may be based on an hourly rate, a fixed price, or a combination of both, as stated in your booking confirmation.

4.2 Any quotation is given in good faith based on the information you provide and is not binding if your requirements change or if the actual work differs materially from what was described.

4.3 Additional charges may apply in the following circumstances:

a. Delays caused by you or by factors within your control, including inadequate packing, keys not being available, or waiting for access.

b. Extra items or additional pick-up or delivery addresses not included in the original booking.

c. Difficult access such as long carries, stairs beyond what was disclosed, or restrictions preventing normal loading and unloading.

d. Parking charges, congestion charges, tolls or fines incurred as a direct result of your instructions or the information you provided.

4.4 All prices are stated in pounds sterling and may be subject to applicable taxes where required by law.

5. Payments

5.1 Unless otherwise agreed, payment is due either in advance of the service or immediately upon completion of the job on the same day.

5.2 We may accept various payment methods, which can include card payments, bank transfers and cash, subject to our current payment policies. We do not guarantee that all methods will be available at all times.

5.3 If payment is not made when due, we reserve the right to withhold delivery of your goods until full payment is received and to charge reasonable storage fees or waiting time.

5.4 For business customers, if credit terms have been agreed, invoices must be paid within the period stated on the invoice. Interest may be charged on overdue amounts at the statutory rate permitted under UK law.

6. Cancellations and Changes

6.1 You may cancel or amend your booking by giving us notice as early as possible.

6.2 If you cancel more than 48 hours before the scheduled start time, any deposit paid may be refunded or transferred at our discretion, less any reasonable administrative costs.

6.3 If you cancel within 48 hours of the scheduled start time, we may retain part or all of your deposit or charge a cancellation fee representing a reasonable estimate of our lost time and costs.

6.4 If you cancel on the day of the service or fail to be present at the agreed time and location, we reserve the right to charge up to the full quoted amount.

6.5 If you wish to change the date, time or scope of the services, we will attempt to accommodate your request but cannot guarantee availability. Changes may result in revised pricing.

6.6 We may cancel or postpone a booking if circumstances beyond our control make it impossible or unsafe to carry out the service, including severe weather, road closures, vehicle breakdowns, accidents or illness. In such cases, our liability will be limited to rescheduling the service or refunding any prepayments for the affected booking.

7. Customer Responsibilities

7.1 You are responsible for ensuring that:

a. All goods are packed safely and securely unless you have specifically requested and we have agreed to provide a packing service.

b. Fragile items are appropriately protected and clearly labelled.

c. All items to be moved are ready for loading at the agreed time.

d. There is adequate access for our vehicle and staff at both collection and delivery addresses.

e. Any required parking arrangements or permits are in place, unless previously agreed that we will arrange these.

7.2 You must be present, or ensure that a responsible representative is present, during loading and unloading to provide instructions and check that nothing is left behind.

7.3 It is your responsibility to check that all goods have been collected and delivered. We are not liable for items left behind or collected in error if you or your representative fail to oversee and confirm the move.

8. Items We Do Not Carry

8.1 We do not carry, and you must not ask us to carry, any of the following:

a. Hazardous or dangerous goods, including gas cylinders, flammable or explosive materials, chemicals, fuels or asbestos.

b. Illegal items or substances.

c. Perishable goods or items requiring refrigeration or special temperature control.

d. Livestock, pets or other live animals.

e. High-value items such as jewellery, cash, important documents or collectibles, unless expressly agreed in writing.

8.2 If we discover prohibited items during the move, we may refuse to transport them and may terminate the service without any liability for resulting delays or costs.

9. Liability and Limitations

9.1 We will take reasonable care in handling and transporting your goods. However, our liability for loss or damage is subject to the limitations set out in this clause.

9.2 We will not be liable for any loss or damage that arises from:

a. Your failure to adequately pack or protect goods.

b. Pre-existing defects, wear and tear or inherent fragility of items.

c. Dismantling or reassembly of furniture or equipment undertaken at your request.

d. Goods packed by you or by third parties.

e. Circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

9.3 Our liability for loss of or damage to goods, where we are found to be at fault, may be limited to a reasonable cost of repair or replacement, subject to a reasonable overall monetary cap per job. We recommend that you arrange your own insurance cover for valuable items or for the full value of your goods.

9.4 We will not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of opportunity, arising from or in connection with the services.

9.5 You must notify us in writing of any visible damage or loss as soon as reasonably possible and in any event within a reasonable time after completion of the service, so that we can investigate.

10. Access, Parking and Delays

10.1 You must ensure that our vehicle can safely park and access the property. Any parking restrictions should be disclosed at the time of booking.

10.2 If our vehicle receives a parking fine as a direct result of your instructions or failure to provide adequate information about restrictions, you will be responsible for reimbursing the fine.

10.3 We are not responsible for delays caused by traffic, road conditions, weather, accidents or other events outside our control. Any additional time caused by such delays may be chargeable where we are working on an hourly rate.

11. Waste and Disposal Regulations

11.1 We operate in accordance with applicable UK waste and environmental regulations.

11.2 We may remove certain unwanted items or waste only if this has been agreed as part of the service and where we are permitted to do so by law.

11.3 We will not remove or dispose of hazardous waste or restricted materials. You are responsible for ensuring that any items presented for removal comply with relevant waste and disposal laws.

11.4 Any charges for disposal, recycling or transfer of goods to licensed facilities will be clearly stated or based on the volume, weight or type of material. Additional costs may arise if the items collected differ from those described at the time of booking.

12. Insurance

12.1 We maintain appropriate cover for our business operations as required by law.

12.2 This cover is not a substitute for your own contents insurance. You are strongly advised to arrange adequate insurance for your goods during transit and handling.

13. Complaints and Disputes

13.1 If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our service, you should raise your concern with us as soon as possible so we can attempt to resolve the issue promptly.

13.2 We will investigate your complaint and may request supporting information such as photographs, descriptions of damage, or a list of missing items.

13.3 Both parties agree to act in good faith to resolve any disputes arising from the services or these Terms and Conditions.

14. Data Protection and Privacy

14.1 We collect and use your personal information only as necessary to manage your booking, provide our services, process payments and comply with legal obligations.

14.2 Your information will not be sold to third parties. It may be shared with trusted third parties only where necessary to provide the services or to comply with law.

15. Variation of Terms

15.1 We may update or amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The version in force at the time of your booking will apply to that booking.

15.2 Any variation to these Terms and Conditions must be agreed in writing by us to be valid.

16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

16.1 These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the services, shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

16.2 The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions or the services provided.

17. Severability

17.1 If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found by a court or other competent authority to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed deleted, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

18. Entire Agreement

18.1 These Terms and Conditions, together with any written confirmation or specific agreement issued by us, set out the entire agreement between you and us relating to the provision of our services and supersede any prior discussions, correspondence or arrangements.

18.2 You acknowledge that you have not relied on any statement, promise or representation not expressly set out in these Terms and Conditions or in writing from us.
